Embedding sustainability into project management training
Courses
We design education programmes for employers, training providers, universities and FE colleges. We have developed programmes aligned to the world’s leading qualifications – including the Project Management Institute (PMI), the Association for Project Management (APM), PRINCE2® and Agile – using real world case studies that allow students to apply the core project management skills to sustainable ways of working. MasterStart South Africa is a training provider dedicated to helping companies upskill and reskill their employees to thrive in a rapidly evolving business environment. We developed an eight-week, online programme aligned to the 7th edition PMI Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) exam. The programme was launched in April 2022 and has attracted more than 800 enrolments.
Project simulation
Passive learning methods such as lectures and slide presentations are not always the most effective methods for developing complex skills. These can best be developed by allowing people to make decisions – and then experience the consequences of those decisions in a safe environment. We are proud to work in partnership with Prendo Simulations. Their pioneering project simulations model the ambiguous nature of many of the challenges project managers face, including complex and unpredictable human dynamics. In 2024 we facilitated their Project Planning and Control simulation for more than 100 delegates from BAE System’s Submarine division. The simulation challenges teams to deliver a project with an ambitious, but achievable, carbon rating.
Bespoke training
In rapidly changing project environments people don’t have time to wade through a manual the size of a doorstep. So, we developed CreativePM for people working on fast-moving projects. It covers all the key principles, but with no fuss, no jargon. In 2022 the Swedish government pledged to work with Zambia Railways (ZRL) to revive Zambia’s railway infrastructure. The project included environmental and social assessments to enable the transition to a sustainable economy. We designed and delivered a training programme for twenty staff in ZRL’s Project Management Office (PMO). The programme was designed to allow the PMO staff to embed the principles of sustainability into their traditional project management processes.

Steve has more than 20 years’ experience delivering inspirational and innovative accredited project management training programmes. He has worked with a wide range of clients in multi-cultural environments in the UK, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
